ARCA invited to US arts administrators’ meeting, Ox-Bow, Saugatuck, Michigan

 

From April 18 to 21, 2013, and on the invitation of organizers Shannon Stratton (Threewalls, Chicago, IL), Abigail Satinsky (Threewalls), Courtney Fink (Southern Exposure, San Francisco, CA), Elizabeth Chodos, (Ox-Bow, Saugatuck, MI/Chicago, IL) and Nat May (SPACE, Portland, ME), ARCA board member Jonathan Middleton (PAARC; Or Gallery) attended a convening of nearly 30 arts administrators from artist-run and artist-focused arts organizations from across the United States.

Institutions by Artists: The Convention, October 12-14 2012, Vancouver (Canada)

 

From October 12-14, 2012, the Pacific Association of Artist-Run Centres (PAARC), jointly with FILLIP Magazine, will host the Institutions by Artists Convention in Vancouver. This conference will survey institutional and para-institutional projects and practices by artists to measure the distance between the promise and the actual performance of contemporary artist-run centres and initiatives.
The Institutions by Artists Convention is now sold out. You can watch video from the conference live, World Art centre or Cinema beginning Oct 12th, 2012. Following the end of the Convention, full HD video of the event will be archived on ArcPost.

Organized by Pacific Association of Artist-Run Centres (PAARC) PAARC, coordinated by Keith Wallace. Although this conference precedes the official creation of ARCA, it was following the InFest conference that representatives from centres across the country agreed to form the Artist-Run Centres and Collectives Conference / La Conférence des collectifs et des centres d’artistes autogérés (ARCCC/CCCAA), a coalition of regional associations and specific caucuses.
